Mabel Lew Scholarship

The Pearl S. Buck Mabel Lew Scholarship Program is now accepting applications through March 1, 2014.  The scholarship program, in accordance with the donor’s wishes, was established with the sole purpose of helping Asian-descended children adopted through the Welcome House® Adoption Program of Pearl S. Buck International reach their higher educational goals.

Applicants must meet the scholarship award criteria and be enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program in academic year 2014-2015.

Scholarship Award Criteria

  • Applicant should be a gifted, economically disadvantaged, Asian-descended Welcome House adoptee from one of the following birth countries: Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Philippines, South Korea, and Vietnam.
  • Applicant must be a United States Citizen
  • Donor designated priority will be given to female candidates
  • A one-time $5,000 scholarship will be awarded
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program only
  • Merit will be based on the standards determined by Pearl S. Buck International
  • Scholarships will be paid directly to the institution.
