Anita Nolan didn't always want to be a writer. While siblings called her Bookworm and her parents told her to stop reading and go outside for a little fresh air, Anita never thought about writing, not even after a college professor suggested she major in English. She considered his advice, and graduated with a degree in Food Science and became an editor for Food Engineering, a food industry trade journal. After her three children were in school, Anita decided to try writing fiction for children. She's had one historical fiction chapter book published by Homecourt Publishing. When the Dust Settled won't be found in bookstores; it's sold in packs of 25 with a teacher's guide for use in classrooms. She is executive editor of Sprouts, the magazine of the New Jersey Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, has written annotations for Best Books for Children and articles for magazines. Anita is also a frequent speaker about the writing process to writers' groups. Anita currently spends her days reporting on commercial real estate and the commercial mortgage-backed securities market for Commercial Real Estate Direct and her evenings writing humorous tween contemporaries and middle grade historical fiction.
