Pearl S. Buck Historic Site Tour
March 1 through June 25, 2013
  • While the interior of the Pearl S. Buck house is being restored, we are offering a unique guided tour of the exterior architecture of her home, gardens and grounds. This standard tour also includes an interpretation of Ms. Buck’s array of honors and awards in the Awards Room, followed by a video of the home’s interior. In case of inclement weather, the outdoor tour activities will be replaced with a presentation on the sequence of events and timeline of Pearl S. Buck life and a brief showcase of select archival holdings.

  • Life and Legacy Play

    Tour groups of 25 or more can opt to view the Pearl S. Buck Life and Legacy play. Travel back in time with the cast as they present pivotal  and life changing experiences in Ms. Buck’s life through an engaging oral history. You will learn how her appreciation for mankind went beyond the pages of her Pulitzer and Nobel prize-winning book to a living legacy that continues to touch the lives of children, families and their communities. For a limited time, this group option is being offered in addition to a Pearl S. Buck Historic Site Tour reservation.

  • Silver Screen Lecture
    Tour groups of 25 or more can opt to view the Silver Screenof Green Hills Farm Presentation and learn firsthand how some of Pearl S. Buck’s written work was shared through radio, stage and film. Celebrated as one of the most prolific writers of the 20th century, Ms. Buck is credited with over 1,300 publications; short stories, novels, poetry, public addresses, plays, and film. Her remarkable writing has been adapted into radio, television and film. Groups that choose this option will also view a brief home movie clip taken by Pearl S. Buck when she lived here in addition to a Pearl S. Buck Historic Site Tour reservation.

Pearl S. Buck House Tour

  • Tour the Pearl S. Buck House and see the beautiful results of our eight-year journey towards full restoration and preservation of the home's interior and exterior. Tours of the national historic landmark home will feature increased access to collections and never displayed artifacts including select wardrobe items worn by Pearl Buck, a 1927 office Edison-Dictaphone, crystal stemware and china table settings.
