Pearl S. Buck Volunteer Assocation
Volunteers at Pearl S. Buck International are very organized and have their own 501(c)3 status, mission statement, and Board of Directors. The purpose of the Pearl S. Buck Volunteer Association, also known as the PSBVA, is to promote the welfare of Pearl S. Buck International, to operate the gift shop, to provide tours of the Pearl S. Buck House, to provide educational programs to disseminate information related to Pearl S. Buck and her work and philosophies; to support the restoration and preservation of the National Historic Landmark, the Pearl S. Buck House; to provide volunteers to assist with clerical or other assignments and to solicit funds and gifts in support of the work of Pearl S. Buck International. The PSBVA also has its own newsletter, published four times a year to keep volunteers up to date on happenings. They also host quarterly membership meetings including a Chinese New Year Celebration. The meetings are fantastic ways to get to know other volunteers and to learn more about the legacy of Pearl S. Buck. Members of the PSBVA receive 10% off in our wonderful gift shop. You may volunteer at Pearl S. Buck International and do not need to become a member of the Pearl S. Buck International. It is optional but recommended. Dues are $10 for a regular member, $2 for students, and $15 for “friends” who do not volunteer but support the association. The membership dues sponsor four children through the Pearl S. Buck International Opportunity House Program, and fund the publication of the newsletter and a membership directory.
