Our Taiwan affiliate, Pearl S. Buck Foundation Taipei provides comprehensive services to new immigrant families and their children. Programs include financial support, scholarships, phone counseling, multilingual counseling services, interpretation services, career guidance, cultural education, parenting skills seminars, summer camp, and annual holiday events.

In addition to providing direct services to the economically-disadvantaged multicultural children of immigrant families, the Taiwan office has continued to work to advance immigrant women’s empowerment by teaching basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Chinese and their native languages. Last year, the program’s workshops and lectures included sessions on foreign cuisine, housework techniques, and built a network of support for the women.

The Taipei City Government Civil Affairs Bureau recognized the Taiwan office as “the Leader in Promotion of New Immigrant Care and Guidance.”
