Born Pearl Comfort Sydenstricker in Hillsboro West Virginia, Pearl S. Buck would go on to leave a legacy as the first woman to receive both the Pulitzer and Nobel prize for literature. Beloved for her extraordinary work on the book, The Good Earth, Pearl Buck spent the first 40 years of her life in China and the remaining 40 years living in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Her legacy is upheld today through the mission that generous donors, caring child sponsors, Champions for Children, individual members and Corporate Partners, among many, help Pearl S. Buck International to carry out.
